Dr. S. L. Peeran is the author of fourteen books in English and one book in Urdu. Peeran’s poetry collection is acclaimed for Sufi thoughts and analysis of human thought and development.
His poetry as described by many of the reviewers has assumed different dimension. Dr. Krishna Srinivas, Editor-in-Chief “Poet”, in his foreword to my work “In Golden Times” had this to say –
“Like Blake, Peeran sees the world in a grain of sand and eternity in an hour. An administrator lisping in numbers may sound strange but Muse in Peeran has blossomed into many-splendoured exuberance in this collection of poems – IN GOLDEN TIMES. Every moment of Time is a mountain. Invisible, magical realities beyond our senses, float out of the unconscious, when the boundaries between the self and world are crossed. It opens expanded moments. The poet dives into these moments – one with nature, its darkness and mastery. Thus poems gleam as magical chalices, reality winking at the brim. Here in this collection, there is self discovery new grounds to liberate emotions. And further penned – He writes HAIKU and TANKA with illumined vision. There is inner vibrancy, a matchless verbal incantation in his lyrics! They gleam as flames, intense and fine. They have visible brilliance. They have deep poignancy. And there is passionate naturalness in all he writes.”

They also stress that man can achieve happiness and salvation through God’s grace and mercy. The satanic impulses of lust, green, anger and jealousy create unrest and discord in the mind of the men and women of our time. The result is that tensions and conflicts grow enormously and even family, the basic unit of the community is largely devoid of compassion, understanding and goodwill.” — Dr. N P Singh

A Search From Within
A Search from Within by Dr. S. L. Peeran is his Third Collection of poems.
Sufi masters claim that Sufiism enlightens the mind, sharpens the wit, broadens the outlook, purifies the heart and thinking and above all they claim Sufiism makes a person humane and a perfect gentleman, by shunning the darker side of inner soul and illuming the soul and the mind.
In my collection, I have attempted to express my inner thoughts, feelings and experiences influenced by my sufi culture and background. I hasten to add that it is a mere attempt and I don’t wish to claim any mastery nor say that I have achieved even a grain of what the great Sufi masters have expressed in their profound poetry
